Legacy of the Land

F or some of you who have been following me over the past few months, you would have realised that I’ve had something in the pipeline. A little idea. A little idea that’s morphed into a huge project with unlimited possibilities.

So, After months of meticulous planning, designing, redesigning, pitching my idea to a couple of willing clients then photographing them for a day (or two), I’m now delighted to be able to announce my new concept: . . . . . . (drum roll) . . . . . . .

Your story will be told through a range of exquisitely crafted, archival quality albums, coffee table books wall art and contemporary gifts which are available either individually or as a collection, becoming treasured heirlooms for future generations.

I’ve often heard families lamenting the lack of memories left by previous generations. ‘Wouldn’t it be great if we’d had something to show how great-grandfather first started out’. ‘We used to have a farm and then sold up and we don’t have anything to show for it except a few clippings from the stock journal’.

The catalyst for my idea, was hearing about a couple who had built up an elite cattle herd over the past 18 years and had made the difficult decision to retire. What would they have left to show for their years of hard work, once they had dispersed their herd and elite genetics?

Another family moved into town for their kids’ schooling and living off-farm but are now able to take a little piece of their farm life with them.

You can take the kids out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the kids.

My own boys can expect to have their own a Legacy of the Land story completed for them shortly. Both now with careers off-farm, who knows what the future holds for them? It’s really important to me that they remember where they come from and what it is that gave them some fabulous opportunities and a great start to life. By that, I mean the country lifestyle and the values which were instilled in them, the ethics of hard work and our family working together, the stewardship of the land and environment. Values that I hope they pass onto their own children in the future.
